The goals and concerns of Americans in 2016 mirror those of Arizonans in the 2008 Gallup Arizona Poll. In Gallup’s original Arizona survey, the three highest priorities of Arizonans include investing in alternative energy resources, statewide plans for water management and preserving the state's open spaces.

Arizona has arguably done the best job of water management among the arid Western states for decades. But all achievements are transitory and every generation is confronted with the need to successfully address the same issues over and over again. Water remains one of our greatest concerns, both in terms of quality and availability.
